Managers who need to recall or layoff a labour service employee must follow certain procedures.
Managers should refer to the Manager Job Aid – Labour Service Vacation Entitlement Calculation to determine sick leave and vacation entitlement for the season.

Recall
To initiate a recall of a permanent labour service employee from layoff, please complete the Labour Service – Recall Spreadsheet and send it to the HR Service Centre.
The Labour Service Recall or Layoff Notification Form should be used if you are completing short-term recall, completing an hours of work change, if there are any changes to the MIDAS position number and/or position number counter.
The Labour Service Recall Letter Template should be used to advise the employee of the details of their recall.

Layoff
To initiate a layoff of a permanent labour service employee, please complete the Labour Service Recall or Layoff Notification Form or the Labour Service - Layoff Spreadsheet and send it to the HR Service Centre.
The Labour Service Layoff Letter Template should be used to advise the employee of the details of their seasonal layoff.
