Did you know the Government of Saskatchewan has its own inter-office mail system? Mail Services within the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement provides delivery of inter-office mail and parcels to government-funded agencies. They also facilitate shipping through Canada Post. This group processes millions of pieces of mail each year!
Using inter-office mail
Inter-office mail allows government employees to send mail between offices as a low cost alternative to couriers or Canada Post. In most cases, inter-office mail is delivered overnight.
To see inter-office locations please see the Inter-office Mail Network Map.
*NOTE: Mail Services only collects and/or delivers a wheeler-full (4-5 boxes) of mail per client per day. Exceptions may arise where there is a large customer base in the building. Additional mail will be delivered in subsequent days. If you require more than this delivered within 24 hours, please contact a courier.
Inter-office mail etiquette
In order to streamline mail delivery and ensure that your mail gets to the desired location, please follow the appropriate inter-office shipping guidelines. You can learn more about procedures by reading the Mail Services Client Procedures and by following the example below:
TO: Jane Smith – Social Services 6th Floor, 1960 Broad Street Regina, SK |
From: John Smith - Justice 11th Floor, 1874 Scarth Street Regina, SK |
As you will see, postal codes are not needed for inter-office mail. However, floor number and department are required.
Setting up inter-office mail service
If your location does not currently subscribe to inter-office service and you would like to see about the possibility of beginning service, please contact Mail Services.
Trace mail
Trace mail is a manual inter-office mail service that allows you to capture signatures of your letter or parcel as it ships between mailrooms to its final location in government. For trace mail orders, please provide Mail Services with four business days' notice. To order trace mail forms, please fill out the Stamp and Trace Mail Requisition form and fax it to 306-787-1873.
Mail through Canada Post
If you are a current inter-office mail customer and looking to mail something to an entity outside of the inter-office system, Mail Services operated locations can process Canada Post shipments for you. Mail Services also carries an inventory of Canada Post Prepaid products. For more information about these products, please call 306-787-7914 or see the Requisition for Canada Post Prepaid Products form.
NOTE: Mail Services does not handle anything over 30 kilograms for either inter-office or external mail. Any shipments larger than 30 kilograms are considered freight and not accepted by Mail Services or Canada Post. A shipment of this size would require an alternative shipping method such as a courier (not provided by Mail Services).
