Key Responsibilities of Position:
This position will: - Lead in the collection and entry of information related to the location and status of relevant wild species and habitats in Saskatchewan. - Contribute to the development of data standards and data management protocols for programs including the ability to assess, analyze, manage large and comprehensive data sets and evaluate the quality of raw data, within set guidelines, and interpret data entry standards. - Liaise with a wide variety of internal and external clients to facilitate timely and efficient data acquisition and guidance on implementation of conservation actions. - Compile information from a variety of sources including government reports, journal articles, databases, published and non-published documents, internet searches, photographs, and field work in annual reports and briefing materials. - Assist in the development of policies and regulatory amendments. - Provide technical advice on new industrial development applications impacting the environment, including environmental assessment reviews.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate: - Direct work experience in botany and plant community ecology. - Working knowledge of the Species at Risk Act and Species at Risk taxa. - Knowledge of NatureServe Core Methodology in assessing species status and mapping occurrences. - Strong understanding and work experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). - Extensive knowledge and direct work experience with grassland/agricultural systems. - Ability to analyze and interpret results.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be acquired through a Master of Science or a 4-year university degree with experience. Education should include a specialization in botany, plant ecology or plant-based biogeography with two years of related work experience; or a combination of a degree in a resource discipline (e.g., resource management, agrology, environmental science) with five years of related work experience. A certificate or diploma specializing in Geographic Information Systems management and implementation or 5-years of related experience using GIS for resource management is required. Ability to conduct field work and a valid driver's license is required.
You will have knowledge of: - botanical species and plant community classification. - Geographic Information Systems and other support programs (e.g., FME, etc.); - provincial policy, regulations and legislation You will have the ability to: - Use ArcGIS to conduct various spatial analyses; (analytical) - Use data management and analytical tools to efficiently organize, track, store, update, and distribute large amounts of spatial data; (organizational) - Develop and/or deliver accurate presentations and written documents about technical, and ecosystem related information to promote understanding and to educate both technical and non-technical audiences (i.e. ecologists, botanists, colleagues);
(communication) - Independently and/or in collaboration with others, plan, prioritize and schedule work assignments to meet unit, branch and ministry objectives; (organizational) - Work independently, or as a contributing team member by consulting and collaborating with subject matter experts within the Fish and Wildlife Branch, other branches in the ministry, other ministries, industry, federal agencies, or nongovernment organizations, to influence, negotiate, persuade or to provide advice in a wide variety of matters pertaining to plant conservation and conflict resolution.

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a Equipment Operator for the Assiniboia Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division. You will be part of a team responsible for the operation and general maintenance of the provincial transportation network consisting of roads, highways, and airports. To qualify for this position, you will possess a valid Class 1A license. If you are invited to attend an interview for this position you will be required to provide a current driver abstract. Key Responsibilities of Position:
The Capital Solutions Unit manages projects in the planning phase of work, with a focus on options analysis to identify viable solutions to complex problems in the area of health infrastructure. The Senior Project Manager will provide advice on infrastructure projects.
• Work with relevant ministries, advisors, and stakeholders to lead the development of planning and business case reports on complex, often multi-owner projects (i.e., multiple ministries and/or health authorities);
• Review and provide advice on conceptual capital options, space plans, and desktop engineering (e.g., geotechnical, environmental and traffic impact assessments) for health infrastructure projects and supporting strategic initiatives related to infrastructure planning;
• Participate in the assessment of potential procurement models through the procurement options analysis process and support governance of infrastructure projects as required;
• Participate in project risk assessments;
• Review and validate project cost estimates and related financial analysis;
• Coordinate and manage project consultants and advisors which may consist of engineering teams, architects, clinical and healthcare advisors, information management and technology experts, legal teams, financial and procurement advisors, fairness advisors, facility maintenance advisors, etc.;
• Develop, track, and manage the approved work plan, project schedule, and project budget, including ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of client billings, including following up on and addressing any issues;
• Create and/or participate in the preparation of Treasury Board, Cabinet, and SaskBuilds Board information and decision items, as well as create/participate in the development and delivery of stakeholder presentations; and
• Facilitate the transition from the planning phase of work to a delivery team.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required to be successful in this position would have been obtained through the following:
• A degree in business, engineering, economics, public administration/policy, social sciences, or related disciplines, supplemented with relevant work experience;
• Three to five years of experience in project management or related fields;
• Familiarity with project management, procurement methodologies, understanding of municipal and civil infrastructure requirements, project costing, budgeting and the procurement process would be an asset; and
• A Master's degree and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) or related designations will be considered an asset.
Knowledge and Skills required:
• Understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
• Knowledge and understanding of government decision making policies and processes; - Knowledge of project management principles.
• Knowledge of government procurement processes.
